More info and coaching experience:
Liza has 17 years of experience teaching adults and children. She worked for 4 years in the nationally recognized social circus program at the International School of Louisiana, and at Circus Smirkus in Vermont, the longest running youth circus camp in America. She spent 3 years on staff at Versatile Arts in Seattle, and ran her own gym, Fly Circus Space, for 7 years. She is a regular guest instructor in the pro-track program at Aloft in Chicago, teaches locally at Refuge Aerial in Baton Rouge, and at Temple Gym in New Orleans.
As a coach, she draws heavily on her passion for anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics as well as her dance and gymnastics background. She is best at helping her students cultivate safe and efficient technique, gain superior proprioception, and understand dynamic movement apparatus as well as on the ground. Liza is also well known in the “circ-ademic” world for her Elements of Choreography aerial act creation method, a unique theatre- and dance-based approach to devising work on any vertical landscape; and for her careful progressive curriculums, which make circus accessible to any body while keeping classes challenging. She has taught all over the country, including at Aloft in Chicago, Samadhi in Honolulu, Sky Candy in Austin, and The Muse in Brooklyn. She has taught internationally in Mexico, Spain, Kenya, and the UK. To book Liza, email her here.
